The O.P.C. is Buoncristiani’s Napa Valley proprietary red blend. In the quest to create a wine uniquely theirs, they discovered the synergy of marrying Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah, while also folding in further complexities of texture and flavor with Napa Malbec and Merlot blenders. Grapes are sourced from some of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards including Hyde, Stagecoach, Hossfeld and Bennett. Just like their winemaking fathers before them, with “Ol’ Pa’s Cuvée” the four brothers continue the family tradition of handcrafting blends that enhance the enjoyment of life.
Coming from Napa Valley, the 2016 Proprietary Red Wine is a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all aged in new barrels. This cuvée is made with the idea to be slightly more accessible and offers a St. Emilion-like feel in its blue fruits, tobacco leaf, crushed rocks, and cedary, spice-laced aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied, has a layered, balanced texture, and terrific tannin quality. It’s another powerful yet elegant wine from Keplinger.

This ethereal Red Blend combines bold, mountainside structure with refined finesse, purity, and sophistication. Intense dense aromas of bright bing cherry, jammy brambleberry and blueberry, vanilla, rose water, and perfume are beautifully intertwined with rich mocha, earthy truffles, delicate minerality, seared leather, and butterscotch on the palate. With brilliant acidity, silky tannins, and balanced structure, we experience luxurious elegance fit for a king.
The 2015 Audēre is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Petit Verdot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec and 1% Merlot, it is a big, bold, exuberant, rich wine with lots of extract, silky tannins, and a full-bodied mouthfeel that is very dark fruit oriented with notes of crème de cassis and dark cherry liquor. The palate teases with cherried plums, apricots and dark chocolate with a long finish.
Some notably captivating aromas on the bouquet include dense vanillin, baking spices, leather, rose water, mocha, alluring luxardo cherries, White Rabbit Chinese candy, and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, it's bold, complex, opulent, and captivating with dense notes of blackcurrant, crème de cassis, dark cherry liqueur, pencil shavings, and a perennially focused coffee finish. It's the perfect combination of innocence and mastery. In fact, if one didn't know better, this could easily be mistaken for a Cabernet Sauvignon.
A blend of Rhone grapes (Syrah and Grenache) and tribute to the beautifully dark and mysterious Syrah-dominated Northern Rhone blends from Hermitage, France. Deep and inky violet color leads to comapct and focused aromas of elderberry and black fig framed by hints of smoky charcoal. Smooth and supple mouthfeel shows a blast of dark cherry fruit and savory notes of olive, bacon fat, an spicy white pepper. Well-integrated tannins and balance ultimately define this wine, which will only get more elegant over the next 5-10 years. Young and vibrant now, the Cuvee Hermitage should pair wonderfully with barbeque, smoked meats, and pretty much anything cooked on the grill.
The 2014 Proprietary Red exhibits plenty of chocolate, crème de cassis, soft tannins, low acidity and a dense ruby/purple color in a medium-bodied, elegant, fleshy style. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.
This 2017 Riley's Rows "3x3" Proprietary Red Blend North Coast, is an awesome reflection of some of our favorite North Coast vineyard sites. A blend of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a delicious cuvee with great balance between fruit, tannin, and acidity.
"The 2013 Proprietary Red Estate is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. This wine was aged in 85% new Taransaud oak for 19 months prior to bottling of 650 cases. The wine is a beauty, with loads of charcoal, scorched earth, blackcurrants and blackberry fruit present, along with underlying smoky notes. It is dense purple, full-bodied, and rich, with moderate tannin. This wine will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring and drink well for another 20-25 years.
