Lightly spiced and fruity aromas of strawberry and bright cherry mix with hazelnut and fresh herbs as an introduction to this hedonistic blend of fresh fruit and earthy spice. The wine opens to a broad and soft mid-palate of black cherry, cassis, and fresh wild strawberry. The palate is elevated and brightened with a refreshing acidity that welcomes this wine to the table. The finish brings out dried flowers, fresh berries, sweet cranberry orange, allspice and cinnamon.
Over the next few years, development will keep revealing sensual subtleties hidden in layers beneath the robust fruit.
Classic Mink flavors of blue fruits, pomegranate, cherry notes, with hints of fresh herbs. Darker fruits blend with notes of cocoa to balance the bright juiciness of blueberry and plum. Fine, chalky tannins with a different feel than any New World Pinot we have encountered - we often call them "Italian tannins" perhaps owing to the volcanic origins of the soils. As it opens, the minerality becomes more and more apparent balancing the hedonism of the Mink fruit and beckons you in for another mouthwatering sip. Age in the bottle will reveal the underlying depth of this wine as it evolves and broadens on the palate. This wine delights upon release, but a recent 20-year vertical reveals it has staying power rare among Pinot Noir from any growing region.
Bright notes of Bing cherry, hints of rose petal and delicate spices dance above the glass. Hints of cinnamon, cardamom and anise follow below and echo on the palate. As the wine slowly opens up, the red berry fruit becomes increasingly generous as does the mid-palate notes of tea, and potpourri. The 2019 vintage will be best decanted in advance if enjoyed near term, or allow the wine additional bottle time as it continues to unfold greater richness and depth.
Fiddlestix always presents a bold Pinot Noir with notes of fruit and exotic spice. As the vines have aged, we noticed more and more underlying depth (they now are approaching their 25th vintage). The nose greets with notes of cassis, Indian spice, and hints of incense. Fresh dark fruits lead the palate, and the focus settles on ripe flavors of blackberry and currants spiced with peppercorn/allspice. Velvety and softly chewy tannins emphasize structure, while ever-present acidity balances and brightens. The spicy aromatics and flavors continue through the long finish.
Complex aromas of ripe ruby grapefruit and jalapeño jam lead way to layered flavors of mango, honeysuckle and vanilla wafer. Zesty citrus flavors, tropical fruit and ultra bright acidity linger in the crisp, clean finish.
Hues of dark eggplant with touches of amethyst at the rim give an immediate sense of richness and elegance. This is confirmed with a nose of ripe, dark fruit, roasted coffee and chocolate, macerated raspberries, violets and spicy highlights. The soft, velvety entrance evolves into a fresh mid-palate filled with raspberry, red currant and boysenberry. This lingers towards a dark blackberry reduction with a touch of earthiness on the long, yummy finish.
Predominantly Pinot Noir, we've blended in a touch of Chardonnay to lift the fruit profile. The distinct creaminess of this wine is undeniable. Lush in floral aromatics, it is aged longer in barrel and in bottle giving it a rich savory edge with curious depth of flavor and complexity. Unfortunately we won't have access to these grapes in the future but are very pleased with how stunning this wine has become over time. It is ready to drink now, but will develop into something even more intriguing with age.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Eternity comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant scents of warm cassis, baked plums and stewed blackberries, with hints of fruitcake and exotic spices. Full-bodied, opulent, and super concentrated, with plush tannins and sweet, spicy black fruits, it finishes long and fantastically showy.
The 2019 Brother’s Blend is the perfect introduction to the Ellman Family Vineyards line-up. With the core blend from the Estate vineyard coupled with a neighboring Coombsville site, the 2019 is approachable, and then some. Offering up a deep ruby cast and intense aromatics from dark fruits like blackberries and currants to baking spice—think cinnamon, vanilla and clove!— and a hint of woodsy, herbals notes like thyme, fresh earth and cigar box. Generous on the palate, complexity abounds with lush red and black fruits, from dark, sweet cherries to bramble fruits and a slew of plum varieties, giving way to notes of pie crust, cacao, as well as hints of roses and violets. With a creamy texture and juicy nature, it packs excellent density without a rough edge in sight. With mouth-coating tannins giving way to a fresh finish, it pairs harmoniously with your favorites on the grill— be they of an herbivore’s or an omnivore’s delights— and will have you dreaming of a braai any day of the week
Our 2019 Bacigalupi Chardonnay has a nose of Citrus flowers and Tahitian Vanilla. The palate opens with bright Lemon zest, a fresh acidity, and a nicely integrated barrel note with a hint of spice. We believe in letting each site express itself. That means that each of our wines has a barrel program and wine chemistry unique to that vineyard site in a given vintage.
The Flanagan Merlot Bennett Valley has compelling aromatic notes of Bay Leaf, Pepper, Cedar, and Saffron. The palate has Red Currant, Black Cherry, Bergomot, and Black Tea with a very elegant tannin structure. The acidity provides great balance. The small berries produced from the steep, volcanic hillside site give the wine great color and concentration
The nose shows notes of Rangpur lime, jasmine, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the wine has Bosc pear and toasted almond. The wine has bright acidity and an elegant minerality. The wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels, using Atelier Centre France and Boutes cooperage for 11 months with 50% new barrels.
This is a stunning example of an AVA wine made from the top vineyards in Sonoma County.
