The Buoncristiani O.P.C. is a Napa Valley proprietary red blend. In the quest to create a unique wine, it discovered the synergy of marrying Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah, while also folding in further complexity of texture and flavor with Napa Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot blenders. Grapes are sourced from some of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards including Hyde, Stagecoach, Hossfeld and Bennett. Just like winemaking fathers before, with “Ol’ Pa’s Cuvée” the brothers continue the family tradition of handcrafting blends that help accentuate the enjoyment of life.
Expect to find deep aromas of cassis, black cherry, incense, dark chocolate, caramelized oak, toffee, and the Buoncristiani signatures of balance, depth on the mid palate, and a lengthy persistent finish. Precise amounts of Malbec and Petite Verdot were carefully folded into the final blend to add complexity and depth to the profile. Twenty months aging in 85% new French oak barrels rounded out the palate even further, while adding more texture, aroma and flavor.
The 2017 blend was handcrafted from small lots harvested exclusively from ultra premium Hillside blocks in the Eastern Vaca Mountain range. Expect to find a dark purple color, intense black and blueberries, white pepper spice, violets, vanilla, toasty French oak, white chocolate, a broad mid palate with balanced acidity, depth of flavor, and a fleshy sexy round finish.

The palate has pomegranate, sage, and a remarkable savory note. As always the wine has a surprising amount of tannin structure for Syrah from the New World.
The 2017 Flanagan Cabernet has classic Cabernet notes of cedar, violets, and Christmas spices. The palate has Red and Black Current, Bay Leaf, and Tobacco. As always, the wine has a surprising amount of tannin structure for New World Cabernet. All of the Cabernet comes from hillside sites and the small berries produced from the steep, volcanic sites give the wine great color and concentration. This is a Cabernet that has the structure and secondary notes of a top Left Bank wine. Great farming, top vineyard sites, and restraint in the winemaking result in a balanced, age-worthy Cabernet.
We aged the wine in Atelier Centre France and Chassin cooperage for 14-months with 50% new barrels. The Platt site, like Grand Cru Chablis sites, is expressive of the vineyard terrior and reflective of a balanced barrel regime. I believe in letting each site express itself and that means that each of our wines has a unique barrel program and wine chemistry that reflect that particular site in a given vintage.
