The 2015 Vintage provided beautiful fruit. Because of a cool foggy spring we had very low crop yields. This resulted in especially concentrated fruit from the steep hillsides in Bennett Valley. We harvested our 2015 Merlot on September 13th, which, was even earlier than 2014. The volcanic hillsides that are the source for our Merlot produce very small berries that have tremendous intensity and structure. Farming at the highest level, picking for balance, and making the wine with minimal intervention all contribute to what we believe is one of the top Merlot wines made in California.

The wine displays vibrant acidity and has a very clean finish. Our Flanagan Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast pairs beautifully with duck, salmon, pork and game; like pheasant, venison, and elk.

The 2015 Vintage started with a cool spring that limited crop yields severely...especially in the Sonoma Coast. The lower crop yields produced an intense vintage with riper fruit profiles. Platt 2015 yields were 53 tons for the 31.3 acres of vines or about 1.8 tons per acre.

Sonoma Stage typically has a very cool climate profile that emphasizes soy, mushroom and forest floor notes, but in 2015 the riper profile means that the wine shows more ripe black fruits like blackberry and black cherry.

Our Pinot Noir fermentations are relatively short...typically lasting
form 9-11 days. We don’t have a rule based approach to using whole
clusters but most ferments include 10-20% whole clusters.

2016 was a year characterized by low crop yields and even
ripening. Our 2016 Flanagan Chardonnay Bacigalupi
Vineyard spent 11 months in French cooperage with 40% of
that new.

We make this wine for one reason only: because it is awesome. This vineyard has  been the source of my favorite Viognier in California for many years.

This inaugural release of the 2016 Riley’s Rows "Three by Three" Proprietary Red Blend North Coast, is an awesome reflection of some of our favorite North Coast vineyard sites. The Merlot is from our Brandt ranch in Lake County... which is one of the best vineyards in Lake County. The Cabernet and Syrah are both from great Sonoma County sites.

Riley's Rows is the project of Eric Flanagan's daughter Riley. Riley grew up with Flanagan Wines, and is now off on own!

The 2016 Riley’s Rows Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast reflects the balance and focus of the 2016 vintage. The 2016 vintage was cooler than 2015 so the 2016 wines are less rich and more focused. In general, the cooler growing season meant grapes tended to ripen at lower Brix levels and lower pHs than they did in 2015.
