Brown Vineyard produces some extraordinary wines.  These wines have richness not common in Zinfandels without being overly alcoholic or sweet.  There is a balance in the acidity from the warm days and extremely cool nights.

The 2013 Brown Vineyard Zinfandel has bright aromas of cherries, plums and cinnamon, and hints of oak. This wine is rich and smooth with supple tannins and excellent acid balance. The flavors are cherries and raspberries with hints of vanilla and cinnamon spices.  The wine finishes with cherries and a little oak.

Though we have sourced fruit in the past for the Jemma and Brothers Blend, 2014 marks our first vineyard designate bottling from Beckstoffer Georges 111. This 300-acre parcel, located in Rutherford, was first purchased by Beaulieu founder Georges de Latour in 1928 and called Beaulieu Vineyard Number 3. It was home to BV’s Rutherford Cabernets made by the renowned winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff. These wines achieved wide acclaim in the 1960’s and 70’s, establishing BV’s pre-eminence in the making of fine Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Purchased by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1988, the vineyard has since been replanted using new Cabernet Sauvignon clones with tighter spacing and advanced trellising systems, enhancing both quality and grape tonnage.

Lovely deep crimson-ruby color, with an intense bouquet of violet and cassis laced with wisps of herbal aromas like a breeze blowing across hills of lavender and thyme. Creamy on the palate with a bit of oak and caramel to back up the black fruit, plum and anise. Crisp acidity gives the wine real dimension and length on the palate with very ripe and subtle tannins and sweet cherry fruit on the extremely long finish.

This beguiling wine is immediately inviting with a bright and clear deep ruby color. The wine is redolent with heavy aromas of wild black fruit, dusty bramble, anise, subtle oak spiciness and forest floor herbs. On the palate, the intensity of the fruit is striking, with creamy black cherry, blackberry and cassis. A harmonious and balanced wine, the epitome of elegance on the palate and the very long finish.

Sourced from high in the eastern Vaca Mountains of Napa Valley, the fruit for our 2016 vintage Sauvignon Blanc arrived at the winery packed with vibrant fruit flavors, intense aromatic character, and mouth-watering acidity.  This young wine is pure pleasure in the glass, with subtle notes of flint, wet clay, and lemongrass mingling with the forward tropical and citrus notes that frame the wine.  On the palate, the bracing acidity calls out for fresh seafood and a large body of water to pull up next to.  While it will continue to open and evolve with time in the bottle, this latest vintage of our Sauvignon Blanc can be enjoyed straight away.

The minerality unique to the volcanic soils of this legendary Sonoma County vineyard completes the palate. This wine is a stunner.

The nose displays a pretty mix of violet, black fruits, orange blossom, and bergamot. On the palate the wine shows red and black current intermingled with mocha and earth notes. There is a ton of structure, and, at the same time, is very elegant. The texture feels “just right” with fine grained, supple, ripe tannins. This wine shows a little less grip in the palate than the 2013.

Our 2014 Syrah displays classic Rhone aromatics of white pepper, bacon fat, and savory herbs. The palate has lush layers of blue and black fruits balanced with a bright acidity that elevates the fruit profile. This is a wine that will handle food very well. Top pairings would be richer dishes like lamb or cassoulet. It also handles spicy foods better than Bordeaux varieties do. We love pairing our Syrah with Indian food

The 2015 Vintage provided beautiful fruit. Because of a cool foggy spring we had very low crop yields. This resulted in especially concentrated fruit from the steep hillsides in Bennett Valley. We harvested our 2015 Merlot on September 13th, which, was even earlier than 2014. The volcanic hillsides that are the source for our Merlot produce very small berries that have tremendous intensity and structure. Farming at the highest level, picking for balance, and making the wine with minimal intervention all contribute to what we believe is one of the top Merlot wines made in California.
