This gorgeous 2015 Cab is dense and concentrated, starting with very dark ruby color in the glass. Aromas are Napa Valley at its best - layers of ripe berries, cherries, red currants, and toasty refined French oak accents. Open and expressive, with velvety and explosive flavors across the palate. Blackberry-like ripe Cab flavors with amazing silky textural tannins and a persistent long finish. Power packed concentration from this low production vintage. Already delicious upon release, and will surely be an appealing wine for collectors - its powerful structure and rich flavors ensure this wine will be a favorite for years to come.
The 500 Chevaux is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: muscular, naturally more tannic and built to age yet with a plush and polished mouthfeel and lingering finish.
This voluptuous and concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon shows rich aromas of blackberry and creme de cassis that evolve into notes of violet and and wild berry liqueur. Hints of espresso and dark chocolate with soft, savory notes of cigar box unfold in the background. The wine is opulent, with firm structure and radiant tannins.
The 2017 “Improvisation” displays an entirely opaque, dark purple-black core with hints of magenta on the rim. The nose is enticing and powerful, showing off intoxicating liqueur notes of créme de cassis and kirsch, alongside ripe black cherry, blackberries, fresh-picked violets, cacao, baking spices, vanilla and coffee bean, tobacco leaf, and crushed stones. The palate is full-bodied and mouth-coating with immense layers of dark fruit that are unabashedly rich and ripe. All this, however, is proportionately balanced by waves of persisting freshness and a touch of acidity that keeps it from entering a sappy / cloying territory that many “Cult Cabs” can’t seem to shake. This forward style wine will drink at its finest over the next 5-7 years with proper storage, but it is delicious right now and needs no further aging to enjoy.
The first vintage of Downbeat Chardonnay is sourced high up in the Mayacamas Mountains overlooking Napa Valley on Bald Mountain Ranch . This special vineyard produces a Chardonnay that is light and refreshing with notes of baked brioche, hazelnut, apple, nutmeg and vanilla. Lemon leads on the palate with warm apple pie and cream. A clean mineral finish of chalk and limestone leave a light impression and you wanting for more. Pairs perfectly with a bright salad, chicken, fatty fish or any nutty cheese.
Hawaiian native and Pono Proprietor David Sedeno created the 2018 Ali'i Carneros Blanc de Noir - and at the Tasting Room, WE'RE LOVING IT! Aromas of bright strawberries, wild raspberries, and cantaloupe with lively bubbles from the Thomson Vineyard on Los Carneros Rd. 132 cases made.
The 2019 Riley’s Rows Rosé was sourced from a small Syrah vineyard in Bennett Valley. The wine has a bright nose of wild strawberries and ripe citrus. The palate reveals notes of Chanterais Melon and Blood Orange.
The Roy Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is among the finest examples of Napa Valley’s landmark 2016 vintage. The nose shows intense dark fruit with notes of tobacco, cigar box, cedar and fresh mountain herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet energetic. An inviting hint of sweetness is balanced by vibrant blackberry, blueberry and ripe plum. Warm undertones of oak, savory spices and precisely wrought tannins contribute to a remarkable, beguiling finish that persists for nearly three minutes. This is a layered, opulent wine from a heralded vintage that will only continue to improve over the next 15+ years.
If there is ever a no-brainer Pinot, this is it as it contains an ample amount of our single vineyard Pinot Noirs. It has an unusual depth and complexity as a result for our entry Pinot Noir. Ripe bing cherries, cranberry and strawberry notes are followed by subtle oak and well integrated finish. It is ready to be enjoyed now and does not call for bottle age. Dishes such as grilled salmon, duck, ribollita or caldo verde would work well as it is so yummy now. For those who practice reverse days where you have breakfast at night, try it with bacon. Yes, it is spring break season but hardly any of us are of that age anymore so no wine with breakfast.
Vinified in our usual way with leaner, lively Chardonnay in mind, it was fermented and bottled with layered acidity and subtle oak in style. At first, it seems a bit reticent but with aeration, it gains complexity. Actually, like many of our reds, it shows better the next day with fuller body, better structure and complexity. In the nose, it shows pear, lemon rind, vanilla, nutmeg, followed by tightly wound, well focused fruit reminiscent of green apples, citrus, stone fruit.
A Sauvignon Blanc with tension and focus, it shows aromas of nose of grapefruit, melon and white flowers. It is lively and complex, showing an exquisite balance of fruit and acidity with flavors of meyer lemon, apples and, of course, Pamplemousse. It finishes clean, though at room temperature its waxy skin tannin shows, and perhaps a slightly bitter peach pit. While it is easy to quaff on a warm afternoon, we have been surprised at its structure. It will be interesting to watch it develop over the next few years as it sheds its acidity and gain complexity.
Vibrant garnet red with dense core. Entices with aromas of black cherry, raspberry jam, dark chocolate truffle and savory clove. Soft and broad on the palate with mouth watering fruit balanced by earthy undertones. Subtle notes of cedar and dried herbs add dimension. Fine tannins make for an elegant finish. Lush and enjoyable upon release.
