The 2018 Rosé is in a tip of the cap to Old World nuance and sophistication. Our 2018 Napa Valley Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon reveals whispers of tart cherries, complimented by subtle hints of apricots.
The 2014 On Q "Appassionata" Cabernet is dense, dark and inky blue/purple in the glass. Dark fresh fruit, with huckleberry, blackberry, plum, red cherry and violet, lead the charge out of the glass. As it slowly uncoils, subtle notes of cocoa nib, star anise, fennel bulb, and graphite - finishing with lingering hints of baking spices such as coriander, cinnamon and vanilla inter-mixed which chocolate and espresso stemming from the well-integrated French oak barrels where it underwent extended elevage for 28 months. As the second, third and fourth wave of flavors burst forth on your palate, you begin to comprehend how the fragrant bouquet and palate are working together to create a memorable tasting experience. Extremely approachable for a young wine, polished tannins, as well as seductively promising complexities yet to come, the structure is intertwined with tart acidity induced by long hang-time from the cools hills of Coombsville. Drinkable now but will benefit with more bottle aging and should drink well for 20-25 years
The 2015 "Appassionata" displays an incredibly opaque, dark purple core with hints of magenta and ruby on the rim. The nose delights with aromas of black currant, blueberry, blackberry, black cherry, and violets over complex secondary notes of cacao, tobacco, a touch of wet leather, crushed earth, a kiss of ground coffee, finely crushed stones, vanilla bean and exotic baking spices. This forward-style Cabernet will drink at its finest over the next 5-7 years.
The 2016 "Appassionata" displays an incredibly opaque, purple core with hints of magenta and ruby on the rim. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon displays notes of prunes, spice cake, plum pudding and blueberry preserves with touches of red currant jelly, dried herbs, tobacco and olives. Full-bodied, firm and chewy and with tons of fruit at the core, it finishes long and spicy.
The 2014 Malbec, from Stagecoach, is superb. Boisterous, exuberant and flamboyant to the core, the Malbec hits the palate with serious fruit intensity. Scents of rose petal, lavender, sweet spice and new French oak are front and center, with more mineral and savory notes develop with time in the glass. This is an especially opulent style with tons of near and medium term appeal. Drink 2016-2022.
2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a delicious, juicy wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Black cherry, plum, mocha, cloves, new leather and cedar give the 2014 much of its succulent, inviting personality. This is an especially bold, racy style, but it works. Drink 2017-2026.
Intense aromatics and rich, pungent red-toned fruit make a strong opening statement in the 2015 Cabernet Franc. Varietal notes are amped up in this sensual, fruity Cabernet Franc. I would prefer to drink the 2015 sooner rather than later, but there is more than enough depth to support at least a handful of years in the cellar.
The sensational 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford comes from clone 4 and the old Georges III Vineyard now owned by Beckstoffer. This is a floral, earthy wine with a dense purple color and a big, sweet, complex nose that follows through on the palate with loads of kirsch liqueur, black currants, dusty soil undertones, some cedar wood and spicy oak. Opaque purple, full-bodied, and generously endowed, it can be drunk over the next 15-20 years.
2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Coombsville) is superb. Dark, powerful, and savory, full-bodied, it packs a serious punch. The near-perfect 2016 growing season started early, saw ideal weather conditions throughout and wrapped up as the valley's first significant fall rainstorm arrived on October 14. Thanks to a relatively steady and mild July and August and then a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, vineyards were able to progress to perfect ripeness. Wines from the 2016 vintage are now quietly developing in cellars throughout Napa Valley and vintners are pinching themselves and smiling for the gift it appears Mother Nature has given them: a fifth consecutive vintage of stellar quality Napa Valley wines.
An elegant wine with aromatics of sweet white flowers, this expression of Sauvignon Blanc is powerful, and anything but typical. Barrel fermentation and aging lends a touch of sweetness, textured mouthfeel and a dry finish, while weaving an intricate and seductive blend of herbs, ripe white peach, and a touch of pineapple. Aging for 14 months in 100% French Oak makes this Sauvignon Blanc rich and pleasing to the palate, with a smooth creamy texture balanced with a hint of spice and refreshing acidity.
