Stone fruits, flowers and black cherries, all of the things that make a farmer's market perfection for me live in this fine wine. Ethereal lightness with intensity, this wine pushes your imagination one way and then another. Is it Nureyev or is it Bruce Lee? Either way it is a combination of tightly wound power in an incredibly artistic wrapper. It glides with an elegance and grace across the palate
The 2017 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is flushed with wild herbs, blackberry, cherry, cloves & anise. Rich flavors of chocolate, blackberries, & thyme are supported by the wines structured, opulent tannins, resulting in a dense, inviting wine that lingers on the palate with notes of black fruit, slate and cocoa.
The 2017 prop Red boasts a saturated purple color, with a seriously hedonistic, full bodied sexy profile laced with notions of Creme De Casis, Black Currants, lavender, and hints of Licorice, while the palate has a terrific intensity, full bodied richness and building tannins, all the while holding onto a beautiful sense of elegance and balance. Power & Grace.
The wine has a deep garnet color, well-married intense aromas of blackberry, dark fruit, and cocoa powder lift out of the glass, beckoning for a taste. The flavors of dark fruit, walnut and cocoa explode on the palate with structure and weight one would expect from hillside Cabernet Sauvignon. The hearty tannins are big and bold which will allow this wine to age for many years but restrained enough to also enjoy now.
Explosive aromas of mango, papaya, and cantaloupe. Hints of citrus segments, waterfall spray, and subtle notes of fresh herbs. On the palate, mouthwatering acidity washes over the tropical fruit in spectacular fashion, creating a balance of flavor and texture. This wine is the perfect spring picnic or poolside accompaniment.
The 2018 Riley’s Rows Cabernet has a bouquet of orange pekoe, bergamot, and black olive with a display of cassis, graphite, and black plum skins on the palate. This wine has great structure and a long finish and wine punches way above its price point!
The wine has a bright nose of fresh peach and ripe citrus. The palate reveals notes of Honeydew melon, plum, and Blood orange. The 2020 Riley’s Rows Rosé is delightful on its own but has the character and depth of flavor to pair with food. It can be enjoyed on the pontoon boat or with a duck confit salad at a top restaurant.
The 2020 Riley’s Rows Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from the Redwood Valley Grape Ranch, in Mendocino County. The wine offers a bright nose of melon and citrus blossom. The palate opens with ripe Meyer lemon and resolves into a delightful Ruby Red grapefruit note. The goal with this wine is to offer a fresh style of Sauvignon Blanc with pretty fruit, great acidity, and a clean finish. As always, it is desired to make this a varietally-correct wine that is well made, delicious, and affordable. Pairs beautifully with fresh seafood like a sea bass or scallop crudo or sashimi
This 2014 Proprietary Red is an intensely aromatic wine with loads of dark fruit, blueberry, raspberry jam, blackberry and black cherry. The mouth is extremely elegant, yet round and voluptuous with notes of currant, cherries, spice box, camphor and scorched earth. This dense wine has purity with its supple tannins creating that signature Roy finish that lingers. Enjoy how it develops and evolves as it opens in your glass.
The Roy Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is among the finest examples of Napa Valley’s landmark 2016 vintage. The nose shows intense dark fruit with notes of tobacco, cigar box, cedar and fresh mountain herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet energetic. An inviting hint of sweetness is balanced by vibrant blackberry, blueberry and ripe plum. Warm undertones of oak, savory spices and precisely wrought tannins contribute to a remarkable, beguiling finish that persists for nearly three minutes. This is a layered, opulent wine from a heralded vintage that will only continue to improve over the next 15+ years.
The 2017 Mr. Evans Proprietary Red immediately offers its signature, exhilarating bouquet of vibrant red and black fruit. Yet in 2017, the iconic Roy Estate blend also presents a captivating savory quality evoking forest floor and black truffles. On the palate, the wine’s structure is an homage to classic Bordeaux—firm, textural and layered. It quickly builds an intense, dark core of blackberry, blueberry and creme de cassis. The notable acidity in the 2017 vintage makes this full-bodied wine exceptionally balanced with a lingering, lively finish.
This is an energetic, powerful wine tempered by graceful tannins and its time spent in 100% new French oak barrels. It drinks beautifully now and will improve through 2035 and beyond.
Much like the high elevation Cabernets, this Mosaique would benefit from cellar age. It was tasted over two days to find its true expression. This child slowly revealed plum, cherry, dark chocolate, and spice notes but it is a full bodied, grippy wine in its youth. It is similar to the 2015 but with more intensity. As in the past, we are surprised at how well they age. Hopefully you have some of the past vintage Mosaiques to enjoy now while this sleeps in your cellar.
