“…we are happy to welcome back our Wild Iris Sauvignon Blanc. She is a wily one, undaunted by the fires, she completely escaped the smoke taint that destroyed our 2020 Cabernets. So bright, Wild Iris will carry our 2020 flag.” -Laurie Claudon
The 2018 Brothers Blend is an apt entrée into the Ellman line-up of wines. Approachable, and then some, it offers a deep, opaque violet cast, billowing with intense aromas of crème de cassis, blackberries, espresso and cigar box. On the palate, complexity abounds with lush red and black fruits, from cranberry and raspberry to black cherries and plums, giving way to notes of cacao, as well as hints of herbal and floral notes such as rosemary and violet. Incredibly soft and polished, it packs excellent density without a rough edge in sight. With mouth-coating tannins giving way to a fresh finish, it pairs instantly with your favorites on the grill from a nice boerewors or Presa Iberico, to the garden’s bounty, like summer squash and zucchini.
The 2019 Caryn Renae Sauvignon Blanc harkens an endless summer. Its brilliant lemon hue sparkles at the meniscus. The end result leaves you feeling piqued for a seaside picnic, and on the verge of a jaunt amongst the waves!
The 2015 Vintage started with a cool spring that limited crop yields severely...especially in the Sonoma Coast. The lower crop yields produced an intense vintage with riper fruit profiles. Platt 2015 yields were 53 tons for the 31.3 acres of vines or about 1.8 tons per acre.
